Assumptions: 8-slice large pizzas; light = 2, normal = 3, hungry = 4 slices per adult; kids 1/2/3 slices. These are common rules of thumb, not data from a study. With sides, salads or dessert you can go lower.
How to use it
- Enter adults and kids separately — kids usually eat less.
- Pick an appetite level.
- Choose the pizza size and check how many slices your pizzeria cuts it into.
- Add a 10–20% buffer for big or long events.
Making the pizzas yourself? Put the number of pizzas into the pizza dough calculator to get the dough quantities.
FAQ
How many pizzas do I need for 30 people?
With 8-slice large pizzas and about 3 slices per adult, 30 adults need 90 slices, which is 12 large pizzas. Light eaters (2 slices) need 8; hungry eaters (4 slices) need 15.
How many slices does a pizza have?
It depends on the pizzeria. As common defaults this page uses 6 slices for 10 inch, 8 for 12–16 inch and 12 for an 18 inch party-cut pizza. Change the slices field if your pizzeria cuts differently.
How many slices of pizza per person?
A common rule of thumb is 2–3 slices per adult and 1–2 per child. Teenagers and hungry crowds often eat 4. These are assumptions, not measured averages.
Should I order extra pizza?
Adding 10–20% is a sensible buffer for big parties, especially if pizza is the only food. Use the extra % field to add it.
